Upper Court Farm sits in the Wye Valley, two miles from Hay-on-Wye. Nestled beneath the Black Mountains, our family has been farming here for three generations. Everything begins in our fields, where we produce beef, lamb, pork, wheat, barley, oats and beans. We take pride in caring for our land, nurturing the soil, and farming sustainably for the future.
We produce to the highest standards, with knowledge and diligence passed down from Grandfather Alwyn, to Father Will to Son Tom. Tom married Julie who grew up on a farm just 10 miles away, together Tom and Julie have combined tradition and knowledge to create our own animal feed business, selling home grown grains and pulses to local beef and sheep farmers. It’s a social hub for farmers to come to collect animal feed and seek livestock advice from Tom.
Upper Court Farm Butchery opened in October 2025. We saw it as the final piece - the thing that had always been missing from the Upper Court story.
We wanted local people to experience for themselves the quality we’re so proud to produce, and know exactly where their meat has come from.
We’re Red Tractor certified and produce to the highest standards. Our trusted abattoir located locally so our food miles are low and our quality has never wavered.

We are not trying to be everything to everyone. We hire locally, we buy locally, we sell locally. The counter is neat. The product is exceptional. And if you have never been to a butcher before and you are not sure what to ask for, that's fine!
Come in our friendly team will be happy to help.
Grass-fed. Grain-fed. Grown here.
Our cattle spend most of the year grazing Wye Valley pasture. When the Welsh weather turns, they come into clean, open barns and we feed them on blends made from our own grain - UC Feeds.
